Jeremy Koreski Interview

Jeremy Koreski is a photographer based in British Columbia. Koreski started taking photos of friends surfing on the local beaches. His work focuses mainly on surfing, fishing, and Canadian coast culture.

Who are you?

My name is Jeremy Koreski.

What do you do?

I am a photographer.

Where did you grow up?

In a small town on Vancouver Island, Canada called Tofino. It’s the place I still call home, and I’ve been lucky enough to spend my life here photographing one of the last unspoiled coasts in the world. But I didn’t realize how special the area was until I left traveling after high school.

When did you take your first big risk in life?

I think choosing photography as a career was a risk, but the only reason I am still on this path is the fact that I love everything about it. Well, maybe not the time I spend in front of a computer, but I can’t complain.

Who is someone you’d love to work with, but can’t?

Peter Beard. I would have loved to have hung out and photographed with Peter, when he was working a lot in Africa.

What are you working on now?

At the moment, in between assignment work, I am running a Kickstarter for a book I am self publishing called This is Nowhere. Its a collection of my work over the past 15 years shooting in British Columbia.

Where do you spend most of your free time?

When I am not working I try and spend as much of my time with my wife Sarah and daughter Bellavita. Next week we are off on an assignment together, which will be fun.
